Default I want a pet turtle...Advice?

So I was thinking about getting a pet turtle since my hamster just died. What are good things to know about them?
Are they easy to take of compared to a hamster?
What kind is most friendly...Males or females.
Do they bite? Which kinds.
How long do they live?

Any info would really help! Thank you all so much!

Turtles can live for a very long time
They are much harder to look after than hamsters
there are quuite alot of foods they cannot eat
it depends on the personality of the turtle not the sex
they can bite but it does not hurt

I looked into this myself and turtles (and most reptiles/amphibians) are tough to take care of.

Turtles live for a long time, not just the 2-3 years that a hamster does....they can live for decades.

Also, they need very specific tank setup/care. Water levels, rocks, sun, etc. Diet. They are tough.

Turtles aren't 'cuddly' pets, they are pretty much for looking at. If you want to get a reptile that's easy and might be slightly affectionate, go with a leopard gecko or bearded dragon.

Turtles live for a very long time. I have two red ear sliders. One is 4 years old one is 5. They are pretty easy to take care of. I have mine in a tank with shallow water and a few big rocks where they climb and relax. They eat turtle sticks a lot during the summer but they don't eat that much during the winter. The tank does get dirty quickly cuz they poop a lot but it only takes about 5 mins to dump out the water from the tank rinse the tank add some fresh water and brush the turtles shells with a tooth brush (ocassionally...just to clean off any dirt). I love my turtles they go up to the glass and scratch it to get my attention it;s so cute. I have a boy and a girl, girls get bigger fast. Oh and about the size they grow quickly so keep in mind they they won't be little forever, some can be as big as a plate. Mine are about the size of an english muffin, the boy is smaller. When they get too big for the aquarium i plan on building a pond outside.

Good luck and i hope my answer helped you
