i have nearly completed my diploma in business administration and am wondering .. now what? what was the point of it. administration is an area that many people often get into because its simple and not in need of any specific qualifications.
i dont know where to take this.. should i take it to uni and do a degree in business .. but then i have the uni fee;s to think about... and i dont wanna be in debt before i start working. What should i do with this diploma.. further it.. or are there above average paying jobs out there that i could find. if so what are they? i live in melbourne australia

I don't know anyone who goes into it because it is simple and not in need of any specific qualifications. You need to have a strong understanding of how to handle the company's financial and human resources, technologies, and production capabilities. If you feel you don't have such qualifications, then you did not graduate from a very useful program.
I'm assuming that your diploma was from a college (community college in the U.S.). While there are some jobs available at that level, such as bookkeeper or office manager, for the most part, you will need at least a bachelors degree to get into the good management positions.

If you're not sure what you want to do with your career, go get an internship position. Do temporary work with a company to get a feel for the different type of work that you can do. You probably had some idea of what you wanted to do before you started the program, right? Try starting from there -- how did you see yourself in the future, after getting the degree.

People have told me too that if you can travel before getting settled down in a career, the better it will be for your career. You know, just seeing new places, meeting new people, experiencing different cultures...all of that can translate to a better businessperson and social networker, in addition to other things.
