For a job in finance (analyst, accounting, advisor, etc.) a bachelor of commerce degree is recommended. From my general knowledge (I have applied to commerce/business courses as well) the commerce program teaches you general business principles during the first two years, and then lets you specialize in a specific field in the final two years (or something in this manner). With a bachelor of commerce, your options are wide open... you can become a certified accountant, a CGA, a CMA, a chartered financial analyst, etc.
A degree in business administration is more for people looking to become executives... which is pretty hard to if you don't have a job. This is why so many people decide to get a bachelor of commerce as an undergraduate, and then after a few years with a job, go back to graduate school for a masters in business administration, so you can move up in the company.
