i uploaded joomla to my webhost. but when type in my webaddress i get a 404 error

i uploaded joomla to my webhost. but when type in my webaddress i get a 404 error
page? Help? i've tried to change the directory it pointing to joomla/installation but nothin happen. on the joomla website it just says to type in your webaddress and you should see a screen saying pick your language. I'm not getting that screen help? joomla 1.5 hep thanks?
yeah there a index.html should i delete it i think a default provided by webhost?
