It won't let me save changes to my html documents in notepad?

It won't let me save changes to my html documents in notepad?
I make up my web pages using notepad, it's worked great until just now. If I open any html document, in notepad, it won't let me save it. It says it can't create the file, make sure the name and path are correct. It rufuses to save it. If I do 'save as' it insists on a different name as it won't overwrite the file, same story, no path.
Any other files seem to save fine, just my html ones. Needless to say I can't change my extensions with every correction I make. Any ideas?
