Default Plasma Cutters

Does anyone have expeience with using plasma cutters? I am considering buying one but I am getting mixed information on them. I was considering buying the Hobart 250A with an on board air compressor but I've heard it probably would not handle cutting body panels. I was trying to stay with a cutter that would run on regular 110 current instaed of 220. I want to remove rusted parts of panels on a pickup truck and weld new parts ones in. I was thinking about a plasma cutter because I heard it would be easier to make clean and precise cuts for fitting up the new parts. Any suggestions?

Default Plasma Cutters

Plasma cutting is a process that is used to cut steel and other metals of different thicknesses (or sometimes other materials) using a plasma torch. In this process, an inert gas (in some units, compressed air) is blown at high speed out of a nozzle; at the same time an electrical arc is formed through that gas from the nozzle to the surface being cut, turning some of that gas to plasma. The plasma is sufficiently hot to melt the metal being cut and moves sufficiently fast to blow molten metal away from the cut.

A plasma cutter is a relatively easy-to-use tool to cut steel and other electrically-conductive metals. These cutters work by using a high-voltage electrical arc and a compressed gas, usually air. An electrical arc generated by an internal electrode ionizes gas fleeting through a nozzle, creating a intense arc of plasma at the shears tip.
