I am 18 years old and I got a ticket yesterday for going 83 in a 65 mile zone. The cop gave me my ticket with a court date of next month. Oh, and I live in North Carolina.
What is most likely going to happen? Will I have an option of traffic court or will I just have to pay the large fine? and what chance is there that my license will be suspended? Thanks for all your help. I should also mention that on the ticket it says in bold that I must appear for the court date. Will it make a difference if I call and offer to pay, or will I have to go no matter what? and thank you Brunette Bombshell b/s tomorrow I'm going to call and offer to pay the price. Thank you.

Some states allow you to plea guilty before a magistrate and pay the ticket off before court for some offenses. But depending on the state and offense, you may have to go to court. As far as me telling you what to expect from the judge, that would be impossible for anyone to do. The judge may be lenient, or strict; sympathetic or not. It depends upon the judge. I come before the same judges on a lot of occasions, and never know from one time to the next what to expect.
