My fiance is leaving for Iraq in July, and we are getting married in June. The Army has suggested that he give me Power of Attorney while he is gone. So I can take care of whatever arises while he is deployed. How exactly do we go about this? Thanks much.
Do we need witnesses, and where do we "turn it in" at? Like, who do we give it to? Or do I keep it?

He simply signs a form that grants you the PoA. Have him drop by JAG and pick up a blank one.
It requires only one witness. You don't 'turn it in' anywhere - you keep it, and show it to anyone who needs to see it when you are doing something on your husbands behalf. If you want, you can use the language below - just format it on your PC to look decent, and replace "GRANTOR" with his name and "GRANTEE" with yours. The rest is self-explanatory. A power of attorney in common law systems or mandate in civil law systems is an authorization to act on someone else's behalf in a legal or business matter. The power of attorney can grant considerable power to a third party to act on your behalf. Powers of attorney are regularly granted to allow the agent to look after a variety of transactions for the principal, such as executing a stock power, handling a tax audit, or maintenance of a strong safe.

Thanks for sharing the info. In my opinion if some one prepare his power of attorney he must consult with a superior probate attorney because he is the only one who can guide you in the best way or keep away from all conflicts.
