ladyxxmacbeth - just a quick note.

Shared ownership houses are targeted at low income families generally those that earn 20k or less per year to help 'less fortunate' people to get onto the housing market.

We are looking into it ourselves

depends on the bank but if you get working tax credits your wage is going to be less than 20k and a bank wont give you more than about 80k to a mortgage.
shared ownerships are only really for public sector workiers like teachers and nurses etc.
we have a mortgage but we only get chikldrens tax credits also remember that when you get a mortgage if you are commiting benefit frau#d and not realise it they will catch you !
