Default Buy a house in this economy?

I want to buy a house using the VA homeloan but not sure if I should go through with it with the current state of the economy. Gas prices seem to keep rising, food and everything else is going up. Should I play it safe and wait? Will gas get up to $10 soon?

If you can afford it I would. Figure gas prices at five dollars at least by years end.

Get a preapproved loan and then hit the foreclosure sales at the courthouse.

we just sold our house in nc to a service member and bought one in dec at our new base in georgia...there are some great deals out there..check out militarybyowner.com that is where alot of service people list their houses..you can see what is around the base you are at....and its always a good investment to own a house...as long as you can afford it..

It is a buyers market right now. Go for it. No matter what you have to pay for a place to live and those prices arent going down anytime soon. You might as well go ahead and start building some equity for yourself.

I believe that you will find Mortgage payments are less than rent in most cases. Just be ready for any repairs that have to be made.

If you have got money, right time to buy when the market is down. It prices cannot go lower.. on the otherside..
Food Prices will go up in the short term and Gas Prices will go up for a longer time.
But still if you can afford it, build some assets may be it will help you when the market starts to look better.

There is never a right time to buy a home. You have to figure your budget and what you realistically can afford to do on a monthly bases with some cushin to it. You may also want to check out FHA loans and other conventional loans, Just because it is a VA loan doessn't necessarily mean it is the best way to go.

I don't think this is the suitable time to buy a house. You will suffer with the interest rate for your loan.
