HI..
Green tea is the fourth commonest dietary supplement being used in the United States. Regular consumption of green tea has a multitude of benefits that ranges from prevention of infections to reduction in the incidence of deadly cancers. The most active component of green tea is a polyphenol known as epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) which exerts the beneficial effects of green tea. Mind refresher Green tea is known to enhance wakefulness, facilitates the formation of better ideas, decreases tiredness and relaxes the muscles of the body. A cup of green tea can drive away the whole day’s exhaustion and make you feel refreshed and ready for new tasks. Potent antioxidant Our body uses a process is commonly referred to as oxidation to destroy old cells and infectious organisms. During this process certain specialised molecules known as free radicals are released which cause the destruction of cells. Increased amounts of these free radicals can be harmful for the normal cells. This effect of free radicals is prevented by antioxidant molecules. Green tea which is rich in EGCG is a potent antioxidant that neutralise the effect of the free radicals and also protects the cells and tissues from being destroyed. Antibiotic EGCG in green tea is known to prevent the progression of infections by killing the microorganisms that are responsible for certain common infections. Anticancer effects The green tea phytochemicals are known for their anticancer ability. These chemicals inhibit the growth of cancer cells to a wide extent and even kill the cancer cells in some instances.
