This is the first time i've run or spliced cat5e cable, and i'm having a bit of an issue. i've created two jack ends for a patch cable to run through the walls, and only one of the plates i got had a keystone jack on it. the other had a plate with screws and wires running from the screws leading to the rj45 port. i plugged a patch cable into it on both ends, one from a router, the second (where the weird port is) into a switch. i'm getting an intermittent signal to the switch. if i plug it directly into my laptop, i get that the network cable is being plugged and unplugged. whats goin on????
