Default Which programming language?

I have 500 hours to learn a programming language...
I've considered Assembly (x86), Python, Ruby and Java. I've sampled all 4. Assembly was devilishly tough to learn. I can't find any job opportunities for Assembly programmers either. Ruby was fine, but Ruby on Rails was great. I liked the portability aspect of Java, but the 'feel' of the code wasn't that great. I loved Python though. Real clean syntax and all. It's just not commonly used compared to Java or RoR. What would you suggest?

(I don't want to learn ANY other language, INCLUDING C++, so don't suggest it)
I want to program in my free time. Not as a career option. And yes, I know what Ubuntu is. -_-

SG- C/C++ is NOT an option.
