Default How do I program and use Perl?

I've been learning programming in my spare time (not much) and have heard of Perl as an easy place to start. I would like to try my hand at learning it, but have encountered some embarassing simple problems. I have an eMac with Tiger, v10.4.8. I'm curious as to what application or program I would use to write a simple Perl program, and what app. or prog. I would use to execute said program. Do I need to download one, or can I use TextEdit or a similar program to write? Same for execution. Thanks!!!__________________________

Why not download e-books which will teach you how to program with Perl. My advise is you should practice what you've learned to obtained the skills that you will need to master Perl.
