Default Which Wireless card?

Hi, I'm totally new to wireless networking but would love to try this out. I'm wondering what pcmcia card to buy for my laptop that people would recommend...preferably i want one with an aerial socket so i can perhaps make/buy an aerial later....or do i need an aerial? I just haven't a clue which have these, and what other factors to take into consideration. What do people recommend, and where can i buy one in brighton/hove? I'm hoping to spend around £50 or less as im on a limited budget btw...

Also..i live at the top of a large regency house one building in from the seafront just west of the west pier, and would be very interested in hosting a node in the future, although i don't even have broadband atm, and as i only rent the property, would have to check with landlord if it's ok. I guess what i'd like to know is if i'm too far away from the beach...i guess it must be about 80m away. Well, just registering my interest anyway
