when i try to change start up programs it comes with an error? please help i need to

when i try to change start up programs it comes with an error? please help i need to
mke my computer go faster when i got to run, then type "msnconfig" i go to the startup tab. after unchecking all the programs i dont need i press "apply" i then get a box saying "an acces denied error was returned while attempting to chage a service, you may need to log on using an administrator account to make the specified changes"
BUT I AM ON AN ADMIN ACCOUNT!!!
