Default Is Alexa Rank Important To You?

hi all,

Just need to hear your thoughts around Alexa ranking and its importance to you as SEO.

For me, Alexa rank is a great intelligence tool for positioning your web site in your niche.

While page rank shows importance, alexa rank shows popularity.
Together, makes more accurate measures for your web site.

Hi
I agree with you there. Alexa is great for statistics to find out where you rank with traffic compared to other sites. It also provides you with information as to where your traffic comes from. You have google webmaster tools and analytical tools which are better for this. However overall alexa rank is important and the lower the number the better

To be honest, I've never bothered with checking my Alexa ranking. I mean I've checked out my profile on the Alexa site, but that doesn't mean much to me, and plus I've heard that it's not very accurate anyway. I also don't bother much with PageRank. Right now I'm only focused on seo and building traffic.

How does Alexa help you position your website? I thought that it just shows a ranking, along with a profile page about your site.

Apparently, my new blog has an Alexa rating...but I don't really pay attention to it. It'd be nice to have a Google PR rating, but I've also read that it isn't crucial for success. The problem with the Alexa rating is that it is too confusing for me to understand. I would need to spend hours just reading about it, and even then, I'm more concerned about traffic than a ranking by another website, at least in this early stage.

I've looked at some seo/design/blogging blogs, and I haven't really noticed articles featuring Alexa. It seems like Google Pagerank is always the topic when it comes to rankign. And this probably reflects what the webmasters are concerned with. Maybe not very many people worry about their Alexa ranking?

Right now, I'm not paying attention to any Alexa or PageRank ratings. I'm just trying to focus on traffic building. And I realize these types of ratings take a lot of time. So I'm in no hurry to get gold star - what I do want to get accomplished though is for enough traffic for monetization to make sense.
