Default Should a security clearance be a REQUIREMENT for the President?

It appears that there is some question as to whether or not Barack Obama would qualify for a security clearance, should he be elected.

Should we amend the Constitution to include "must be able to to pass security clearance and polygraph test" in order to be President?

I need 1 for my job..... why not Barack or any other???

Perhpas it is...I think there are the typical background checks run on all politicians who are potentially exposed to sensitive national secrets...Gawd..I certainly hope that';s the case...YIKES! Abongo-drum Obama will learn it all and pass it along to Al Qaeda...

There is no question that Obama would qualify for a security clearance. It wouldn't surprise me if as a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee he already has one.

Wow, that is an excellent question.

I do agree that they should fill out that SF-86 and have it processed the same exact way and held to the same standards as everyone else who's had to.

That's a ridiculous idea.

You'd put determining someone's eligibility for the Presidency in the hands of the government bureaucracy, rather than in the hands of the people, where it belongs.

Oh, and I hope you're aware that, if you do really have a security clearance, declaring it in a public forum is a good way to have a long talk with your employer's security staff.

I asked this question 4 weeks ago:

"Does the president-elect have to go through security clearance?"

It was removed so I cannot share with you the answers I got. I think they removed it because I only got 4 answers, all of which said that they think Obama must have already passed. I'm not sure I agree. I think basically no one here knows how that works.

Or maybe my question was removed because I used the term "yankee white". It's not a derogatory or racial term. It is a national security term used to refer to a high level of clearance.
