I dont think i understand web servers??????

I heard i can upload my html file to a web server to make the url shorter, using a yahoo as a example and "mypage" as a example i heard once u upload it the new url would be "www.yahoo.com/mypage.html" but i dont understand if this is correct or what..if it is correcnt..how do i do it!?!?!!?

if you own the domain www.foobar.com
and the webserver is on the ip of 200.100.200.100 you would set your websites DNS A record to 200.100.200.100 Then, when ever you browse to your site, It will always look for index.html by default. However if you had moo.html your url would be www.foobar.com/moo.html
