Hi,
I am using Windows XP Pro, I know that if a user account does not have the "Logon locally" right, then I cannot use this account to use the IIS FTP service. According to Having a user account to be able to logon locally makes its account name appear in the login screen, which is strange because I just want to let this account use the FTP service but not allow it to logon locally. So why must a user account need "Logon locally" right to be a FTP user? Thanks so much for your help. According to this page: http://www.experts-exchange.com/Web/Web_Servers/IIS/Q_21100179.html The comment by meverest: make sure that user has log on locally right.

I'm not sure that an answer to your question will help you in any way. But the answer is that the "logon locally" right is misnamed. What this right really confers is the ability to use basic authentication to access resources based on your username and password. Both the logon process and the FTP server use basic authentication, so the same switch controls access to both of them.
There is a workaround for IIS 6.0 (Windows 2003) but as far as I know, there's no workaround for other operating systems or IIS versions.
