Default Wireless on linux

Hey, just got wireless working at my home on my 500mhz 128 mb dell laptop so I thought Id cruise down to heist and wifi it up down there.

alas no.... it was talking to a windows machine there but not to me :-( Think it might have somthing to do with the browser login page maybe?

It worked okay at the globe 20 mins after.

Any of you guys got experiance with linux wireless or is that a silly question?

Cheers
