My fiance and I put a bid on a house we love Saturday afternoon (4/12). The listing said it is a short sale, but the buyer is loking to sell ASAP. The house is completely empty, and has been on the market since September. We made a strong bid, so I thought it would get someone's attention. I was just reading some other's users previous questions, and I saw that it can take weeks just for an answer? Does anyone know if this applies if the seller said looking for a fast settlement. its bank owened, and the listing also said will pay closing costs. People at work told me I should hear back today... I'm worried b/c we really want the house, but I don't want to wait weeks fir an answer. our buyer realiter is my brother-in-law's (soon to be!) gf, so I know she will work hard to find out. any advice? should we tell them we will retrat if we don't hear from them? thanks guys.. we are first-time homebuyers so we don't knw much.

Like with most short sales it is really up to the bank if they will take your offer.
Be sure you have a real estate attorney look over all of your loan papers. offer papers etc. before proceeding. Even the best real estate agent in the business will not know the laws regarding your loans etc. For a few hundred bucks it is well worth every dime.
