I sing a lot, and that includes a great deal of belting it out on my part. Sometimes my voice feels shot. I hate that. And I have many important things coming up with my singing, so I want to sound great at all times. Does anyone know what I can do to keep my voice at its best? Such as drinking certain things, etc?
Thanks alot, everyone! I'm definitely going to start doing what you guys have suggested.

Make sure you're not singing wiht your throat and nose, it tires the vocal chords out.
Sing from the diaphragm, and make sure you do proper warm up vocals before you do anything major, or you'll burn them out faster. Also, try to avoid singing when you're sick, it may seem tempting at the time, but it could damage your chords permanently. Also, DO NOT clear your throat. It's like slamming your vocal chords together like slamming a book shut. It's so horrible for them. Drink hot lemon tea and wash your hands a lot.

gargle with salt water. this will stop your throat from being sore and if it doesnt cure it , it will make you feel better the next morning... warm water works best, the cells at the back of your throat lack the fluid that makes them work right so gargling with warm salt water allows all of the things you need to diffuse back into those cells
