I am using MS Office Accounting Express 2008. I do not own Excel. The data export apparently requires Excel, which is silly since it could export to CSV if it wanted to.
Is there a way for me to extract data from this program so I can query it? Can I make it export to CSV or to Open Office or something similar? Is there a reasonable way for me to access the embedded SQL Server instance directly and view/query it with tools (I tried some JDBC but they didn't work)? Is there a way for me to dump the data into another format I could load into a database I can manipulate? I'm a developer and very familiar with RDBMS, but I'm unfamiliar with using SQL server and don't know what limitations are put on this version and how Accounting Express 2008 works with it.
